BrazilOnGuitar says: Within two days BP recorded music for two records: Solitude and Grandezza. We think that Grandezza is musically more interesting. The compositions are linked to Jazz, to improvisation. The record reminds of a jam session among friends, seemingly giving him joy and freedom. The Solitude can be seen as a prelude to the preferred project of an improvisational jam session.
Three instrumental arrangements of songs are on the record: Apelo, Labareda and It was a wonderful year by Elvin Drake. According to the liner notes one of his favourite songs. It might only be guessed that the verse When I was thirty-five, it was a very good year... is a reference to his coming 35th birthday.
In 1967 he had played with Eberhard Weber on Poema on Guitar and held this musician in high regard since these days. Herb Geller's flute play was an inspiration for the other musicians and set dynamic accents. His new drummer Joaquim Paes Henriques was interacting very well with the other musicians. Regrettably, the complete Walldorf sessions were not yet released on one CD.
