Comments:

BrazilOnGuitar says: Canto on Guitar was the third record for MPS. The Baden Powell Quartet recorded it immediately after their first tour in Germany. Most compositions were developed directly from improvisations. Hardly any other of Baden Powell's records deals so closed thematically with the religions of Brazil. The suite "Tres Temas Da Fe Afro-Brasileira" with is trance-like rhythms is the spiritual centre of the record.

1970 Baden said about the suite: "I think it became the most beautiful thing I ever have done. Espirito Santo is the most lovely bit definitely." For Baden the record meant the breakthrough in a freer form of making music, which can be heard in his next records: "Lotus" and the threepart "Baden Powell Quartet" series. We thank Robert G. (Germany) for his translation.
